Francis Nwapa, Convener of #EndMalariaInNigeria, an advocacy initiative under Hatch Pest Control and Environmental Service Limited has been invited by Malaria Consortium to participate in a prestigious Research & Impact Investment Summit on Malaria Resourcing.
This invitation marks the first international recognition of the organisation’s prevention-centred malaria advocacy following its mosquito control intervention in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Kwale, Delta State.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Nwapa emphasised the need to move beyond cosmetic malaria interventions and focus on structural vector control strategies.
āOur experience in Ndokwa West demonstrates that when we target mosquito breeding environments through drainage reform, larval source management, and environmental sanitation, transmission drops significantly,ā he stated.
The summit provides a platform to advocate for:
- Institutionalizing larval source management
- Reforming drainage and dam construction policy
- Ending open dumping
- Reviving domestic vaccine production capacity
#EndMalariaInNigeria calls for a shift from donor-dependent treatment cycles toward sustainable environmental prevention investments.
